The US-based Ammanna Technologies Inc is taking over the city-based Srico Systems (India) Ltd, and make it the centre for its operations in India after renaming it as Ammanna Technologies (India) Ltd.
To be fully operational by April 1998 in a 50,000 sq. foot premises, Ammanna Technologies ( India) will provide integrated technology solutions, products and services, and will be a 'centre of excellence'.
According to V Rao Bathina, the force behind Ammanna Technologies Inc. and the former chairman of Intergraph India, the software development centre will be equipped with state-of-the-art computer systems like symmetric multiprocessing servers, mini servers for the internet, distributed database, SQL etc.apart from workstations and high-end PCs with Wintel platforms.

He said Ammanna will also be introducing two, natural interface products and high-end desktop and note book computers. The two interface products, Rao said, were the speech recognition package from Dragon Systems Inc, and handwriting recognition system from Communications Intelligence Corporation, USA.
The speech recognition package, he said, with vocabulary in excess of 2,30,000 words, enables words spoken to be transcribed immediately on the computer screen. The handwriting recognition system enables transcription of notes, handwritten on a specially designed pad and stylus, on to the computer.
