Bestavision Eyes Jv With Taiwan Co

Bestavision Infotech (earlier Lucky Electronics), a company promoted by the Rs 200-crore Bestavision Electronics, is planning to enter into a joint venture with the Taiwan-based DTK Computers for the manufacture of computer monitors and peripherals in the country.
The venture is likely to be operational towards the end of the next year when the two partners plan to set up the manufacturing plant for computer monitors at Surajpur near Dadri.
The joint venture is also likely to take up manufacture of cabinets and power supply equipment at Bestavision's facility at Noida, while the motherboard, hard disk drives and the CD-Rom drives will be sourced and imported into the country by the foreign partner.

In the first year of operations, the two partners plan to invest around Rs 30 crore in the venture. The venture is also planning to have service centres at New Delhi, Rajasthan and Punjab.
However, the other financial details of the venture would be finalised only after testing the market for the products over the next one year.
This forms part of its efforts to revamp the operations of its subsidiary Lucky Electronics, which was involved in trading activities. Lucky Electronics has been renamed Bestavision Infotech as part of Bestavison's strategy to focus on the information technology industry.
Disclosing the company's plans, Kishore Sandhu (manager products) of Bestavision Infotech told Business Standard that the two partners have decided to launch DTK Computers' complete range of computers starting from Pentium 166 Mhz to notebooks to digital cameras in the country.
Over the next one year, these products will be distributed through Bestavision Infotech, DTK's channel partner for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan.
Bestavision Infotech which manufactures televisions has a turnover of around Rs 200 crore. Bestavison Electronics earlier had a tie up with LG Electronics which was later called off. It is also in the process of putting up an integrated manufacturing complex at Greater Noida with an investment of Rs 20 crore.
It also exports television sets to countries like South Africa, Russia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
The $500-million DTK Computers, has operations in nearly 35 countries.
It manufactures motherborads at Taipei, while cabinets and power supply equipment are made in Hong Kong and Shenzhen in China.
DTK Computers manufactures notebook computers and LCD monitors in its facility in Japan.
