Bse Elects First Woman Director

The Bombay Stock Exchanges glass ceiling was decisively breached yesterday, following the election of Deena Mehta as the first woman director on the exchanges governing board.
Apart from Mehta, Mahendra Kampani, Anand Rathi and Ramesh Damani were also elected to the board.

Damani said the new board would meet in the first week of April. The new members would be introduced to the board and most of the committees would be reworked during the meeting, he added.
When asked if he would continue to be the president of the exchange, Damani stated that all the elected directors would meet and decide on the issue prior to the first meeting of the new board.
Anand Rathi extended his support to M G Damani: Damani has done a great job and certainly deserves another term. The exchange has done very well under his leadership.
The priority for us will be to make the bourse investor-friendly and free of bad deliveries. We need to ensure that BSE becomes a cost effective institution for the investor, Rathi added.
