The Mumbai-based Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies has introduced a new MBA-Tech course.

The five-year, full-time course, meant for science students who have finished their school education, is spread over 15 trimesters and aims at creating a pool of technology managers suitable for high-tech industrial work.

This year the course is being offered in four technology areas: IT, telecom, manufacturing and chemical.

Skill gaming

Confident about your management skills? Why not test a few? The Bhubaneswar-based Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB) has come up with Skill City, a strategy-based game built around testing skills like negotiation, analytical thinking, creativity, leadership, team building and so on.

The interactive game throws up various challenges at different levels "" similar to ones often faced by managers in real life.

XIMB claims that the game can be used by companies at their assessment centres and can also be used in the selection process at various B-schools.

WTO on the agenda

The Delhi-based Fortune Institute of International Business (FIIB) has introduced a programme on World Trade Organisation (WTO) regulations as a part of its international business course. The programme has been developed keeping in mind the changing dynamics of international trade post-WTO regime.

The curriculum lays emphasis on the functions of major international institutions such as International Monetary Fund, World Bank and so on, with special reference to the WTO and its related areas.

Apart from training on various financial and regulatory bodies, the course will provide an understanding of policies and reforms such as market access issues; trade and tariff preferences; customs valuation and customs reforms; anti-dumping policies; trade-related investment measures, safeguards and subsidies; government procurements; multilateral disciplines; environment regulations and so on.
