Groundnut oil eased further by Re 1 to Rs 405 per 10 kg on continued brisk arrival of oils on account of the commencement of the new season at the producting centres. Arrivals of soyaoil and groundnut oil from the producing centres to the mandis are put at around 1 lakh bags of each.

In other oils, kardi oil suffered a setback and lost Rs 5 to end at Rs 375 per 10 kg on profit taking. Karanji oil recovered by Rs 5 to Rs 190 per 10 kg on improved demand as against reduced availability of ready stock

Imported palmolein eased by Re 1 to Rs 262 per 10 kg on moderate demand at low level.

 

Meanwhile, majority of other oils ruled overall steady on narrow movements. In futures, December contract opened Re 1 lower at Rs 109 a quintal. It declined to Rs 103.50 before closing at Rs 117.50 per quintal.

In oilseeds, castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities declined further by by Rs 5 per quintal to Rs 1,075 and Rs 1,069 respectively on dull offtake. Nigerseeds Madras declined by Rs 25 to Rs 1,450 per quintal on reduced industrial offtake. All other oilseeds ruled overall steady on narrow movements.

A divergent trend was noticed at the wholesale sugar market at Turbhe, in Navi Mumbai yesterday. Sugar small grade firmed up while medium grade weakened yesterday. The undertone of the market remained weak.

Sugar S-30 grade improved further to Rs 1,290/1,312 from the previous level of Rs 1,285/1,310 a quintal, while sugar M-30 grade eased to Rs 1,310/1,351 from Rs 1,315/1,355 a quintal. Sugar for check-post deliveries were quoted at Rs 1,270/1,282 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1,290/1,330 for the M-30 grade.

A divergent trend continued in precious metals in the local bullion market. Gold prices showed improved trend while silver prices ruled easy yesterday. The market sentiment remained shaky.

In yellow metals, standard gold and 22 carat gold firmed up by Rs 10 Rs 5,155 and Rs 4,770 per 10 grammes respectively on improved demand. Gold biscuits prices recovered by Rs 50 to Rs 60,300 per piece of 10 tolas on better demand yesterday. The undertone remained weak.

In white metals, silver .99 and .916 eased by Rs 45 per kg each to Rs 7,055 and Rs 6,945 respectively on dull industrial demand and improved arrivals. Delhi advices witnessed a weak trend yesterday.

Copper and nickel showed an easy trend in the local non-ferrous metals market. Industrial dem- and remained dull. The trade volume continued to remain limited.Prices of the most metals remained unchanged

In the virgin section, nickel cathodes declined by Rs 3 to Rs 375 per kg on increased selling pressure coupled with improved arrivals. Copper wirebar eased by 50 paise to Rs 117 a kg on easy industrial offtake. Meanwhile, all the other metals ruled overall steady on narrow movements. Prices per kg quoted were as under : aluminium ingots Rs 72.50, lead ingots Rs 49.25, tin slabs Rs 356 and zinc slabs Rs 62.25 a kg respectivley.

In the scraps section, copper heavy scraps softened by 50 paise to Rs 110 a kg on dull industrial offtake. Meanwhile, all the other metals ruled overall steay on narrow movements. Prices quoted were as under: copper utensils Rs 99.50, brass utensils scraps Rs 85, brass sheetcuttings Rs 89, and aluminium utensils Rs 58 per kg respectively.
