The Vajpayee government would complete its term and the Congress should accept this reality, BJP spokesperson K L Sharma said here yesterday.

Reacting to the Congress' brainstorming session at Pachmarhi which ended on Sunday, Sharma said the Congress should not live in the illusion that it could destabilise the government.

The session highlighted the Congress's lack of confidence and its ideological confusion, he claimed and suggested the party should try to regain its organisational and ideological credibility.

The Congress, which used to boast of stability and economic reforms, could not express confidence on either count, he claimed. Former finance minister Manmohan Singh, architect of the economic reforms initiated by the Congress, was at the receiving end at the meeting, he pointed out. He also pointed out that the Pachmarhi session was dominated by those who had left the party and rejoined it_Arjun Singh, Madhavrao Scindia and Sharad Pawar.

Sharma also said that the Congress had come out against communalism but failed to criticise casteism indicating that it was trying to get closer to the Rashtriya Janata Dal of Laloo Prasad Yadav. "The Congress has a soft corner for Laloo Prasad Yadav ," he said.
