The Congress trained its guns once again on defence minister George Fernandes calling him a "one-man demolition squad" who would single-handedly destroy the "entire BJP-led coalition".

These comments against Fernandes were made yesterday by Congress spokesman Ajit Jogi who mentioned a contempt notice against Fernandes from the acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.

"This one-man demolition squad told the world that China is our enemy number one and thereby tried to demolish a friend. After that he tried to demolish all that the defence ministry stands for, just as (Admiral) Bhagwat has mentioned in his affidavit", Jogi said.

 

Jogi also criticised Fernandes on his "compromise on matters sensitive to the defence of the nation. He even continued to try to encourage anti-national elements."

The latest victim of Fernandes, according to Congress, is the judiciary as in his capacity as the defence minister, he has complained against the acting chief justice of the Patna High Court.

Besides Fernandes, Jogi targetted Prime Minister A B Vajpayee by saying that his mask of a moderate person had been removed exposing his real self.

The Prime Minister was crying like a child over the fall of his government, blaming the Congress for it, as if it was the responsibility of the Congress to keep him in power, Jogi said.

"The Prime Minister has come up with a new philosophy. Whenever Vajpayee becomes the Prime Minister, it will be the duty of all opposition parties to keep him in power", Jogi said. The Congress has always been saying that it was the role of the opposition to oppose, expose, and depose the government.
