More than 600 delegates will participate in the three-day international conference on rubber beginning here on December 12.
Prof Amitabha Ghosh, director of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur told newsmen yesterday that the conference would cover tyre developments, rubber components for automobile industries, speciality cables, advances in analytical techniques, new polymers and modified rubbers, compounding and vulcanisation, adhesives and bonding, recycling and environment.
Ghosh said the three-day conference being organised by the Rubber Technology Centre of IIT, Kharagpur will be held for the first time in Calcutta and be a major technical incentive for the rubber industry.

"With the increase in yield per hectare and area, rubber plantation in India has a bright future in the global market and the three day conference will enrich rubber science and technology for the growth of the Indian rubber industry," he added.
Ghosh said apart from the government agencies, the All India Council of Technical Education and Indian National Science Academy would be sponsoring the international conference.
He said renowned scientists, technologists, engineers and managers would deliver plenary lectures, special lectures and oral presentations apart from session on poster papers. There would also be panel discussions on tyre developments and industrial rubber products. The conference will be attended by representatives from a hundred countries apart from the US, UK, France, Belgium and Singapore, the Netherlands and Italy.
