Deepak Fert Buys Irish Nitric Acid Plant

The World Bank is set to review the power reforms in Orissa and is likely to appoint a one man committee headed by Mike Webb who was formerly with London Economics.

The Bank, which is funding the restructuring programme in the power sector, is seeking to understand the lukewarm response to the privatisation of distribution zones. Sources added that a comparison across countries, especially Latin America, shows that the funds raised from divesting distribution stake was much higher.

They pointed out that in some cases in Latin America, the state was able to generate more than $500 million from divestment.
