Tetra Pak India Ltd, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Tetra Pak International which belongs to the $12-billion Tetra Laval Group of Sweden, is gearing up to capture a larger share of the
milk packaging market in the country.
To raise its scale of operations in the 10 billion litres per annum packaged milk sector in India, the company has also invested Rs 210 crore in acquiring two plants.

Considering the high price of its six-layered brick shaped cartons, having a retail tag of Rs 24 per packet, the company has launched Tetra Fino packaging cartons for which the price ranges between Rs 17 and Rs 20.
Surendran Menon, vice-president, marketing, Tetra Pak India Ltd, said the pouch-like tetra fino packets have already been used by many dairies, including Karnataka Milk Federation in Bangalore, A P dairy in Hyderabad and Shivamrut Group in Mumbai. In Calcutta Keventer's Pure Milk has been launched in Tetra Pak on a trial basis.
However, the price difference between the 3 per cent fat content loose milk available in the market that costs Rs 11 and that of
the Tetra packaged milk is a crucial factor in the company's long term plan to garner a major share in the Indian milk packaging market.
