The enforcement directorate (ED) will kick off interrogations for alleged Fera violations by Dunlop India by questioning the firm's former vice-president (finance) Anju Madeka.
Madeka had stepped down from her post last month following the resignation of the managing director M D Shukla. She has been summoned to appear before the ED on Monday.
The ED had sent a list of queries to P J Rao a member of the three-member interim panel of Dunlop. Rao, who is also an executive director in Shaw Wallace & Co has furnished a corresponding list of answers. The answers are currently under scrutiny.
The ED hope to send more summons in the near future to various other officials who may be relevant for the case.
It is believed that most of the questions relate to a real estate deal in Mumbai that fetched the company Rs 176 crore. The main issues in the probe are whether this sum was siphoned off abroad, and whether this property belonging to the company was actually sold.
It is believed that the ED has collected sufficient evidence against the tyre major and is set to corroborate statements of those interrogated with the evidences in its possession.
According to ED sources, the case will be isolated from the ongoing Shaw Wallace investigations although both belong to M R Chhabria.
Nonetheless, some areas of overlap have emerged such as the expenditure on computer software by Dunlop have been shown in the books of Shaw Wallace.
Shaw Wallace investigations continue to move at a sluggish pace as key players have not presented themselves for interrogations on the days they have been summoned.
The company's managing director Ravi Jain had been summoned for yesterday but failed to turn up at the directorate's premises at Calcutta pleading adjournment on some pretext. He has been summoned again on March 26.
The directorate also hopes to question former Shaw Wallace employee P R Pandya for further clarifications.
