The Indian mutual fund sector saw an overall net outflow of Rs 77,142 crore in September. Liquid schemes alone witnessed a net outflow of Rs 60,861 core. This was mainly on the back of the half-year closing phenomenon, which made large institutions and companies redeem their units. These large clients invest in liquid and money market schemes of mutual funds for a shorter duration. Typically, money redeemed September comes back by the end of October.
