Swedish telecom major Telia has nominated Karl-Erik Eriksson as president of JT Mobile, the cellular licencee for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. He replaces Jan Nilsson -- formerly CEO of the company -- who reportedly quit JT Mobile after differences between the Indian partners.
JT Mobile is a cellular consortium comprising United Telecom, Sanmar Electronics, Parasrampuria Credit and Investments Ltd (PCIL), Jasmine Telecom of Thailand, Telecom Authority of Thailand and Telia. PCIL is engaged in a legal battle with R K Kataria over the ownership of 20 per cent in the company.
Eriksson was taking over from Nilsson "whose contract expired at the beginning of February 1997", a company release said.
