Expenditure On Subsidy May Rise To Rs 26,000 Cr

The aggregate expenditure on subsidy may rise to Rs 26,000 crore in this fiscal according to public finance specialists if the government is not able to rein in the current level of expenses on food grains and fertilisers.

This will be about Rs 4,000 crore more than what the government has estimated for the current fiscal year which is about Rs 22,800 crore. D K Srivsatava of the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy told Business Standard that this rise can spell doom for the finance ministry
