About 1,600 Indian nationals in Iraq are being provided tickets by the Indian government for their return, external affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said Sunday.
Two other special flights will be operated to New Delhi from Najaf and Basra in the next 36 to 48 hours with approximately 200 Indians, he said at a press conference here.
Akbaruddin said 486 telephone calls were received at control rooms from stranded Indians in Iraq and all were being responded to.
"We are responding to each one of them," he said.
