Forex Reserves Harden By $89 Million

Cyclicals experienced a technical correction on the Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE), HLL being the biggest casualty yesterday. Infotechs were a mixed bag, with Satyam Computers down and Pentafour Software up.

The CSE-40 index closed 59.95 points down at 2,204.83 points against the previous closing. The index fluctuated between 2,264.96 points and 2,204.09 points in mid-day trading. HLL opened at Rs 2,430, fell to Rs 2,325 and revived marginally to close at Rs 2,375. ITC opened at Rs 652, declined to Rs 622.10 and closed lower at Rs 624.40. Associated Cement Co opened at Rs 236, moved between Rs 239.90 and Rs 222 and closed on the lower side at Rs 225. L&T opened at Rs 417, saw a high and low of Rs 421.80 and Rs 410.50 and closed at Rs 414.40.

 

Pentafour Software opened at Rs 1,399, ranged between Rs 1,449.70 and Rs 1,385.10 to close at Rs 1,449.70. Satyam Computers opened at Rs 2,139.90, see-sawed between Rs 2,160 and Rs 1,985 before closing dull at Rs 1,993.60. "Punters have been alternating between Satyam and Pentafour but overall, infotech scrips traded firm and closed with moderately good gains", said CSE dealers. /TITLE>
