Good Demand For Ctc, Orthodox, Darjeeling Types

CTC, Darjeeling, orthodox and dust tea saw good demand in the auctions held last week at Calcutta.

The Darjeeling variety, which was offered in 42,850 packages totalling 14.05 lakh kg, faced better demand than in the previous week.

The whole-leaf grades of Darjeeling tea saw a firm trend with selected stuff meeting good export interest. Brokens and fannings also recorded an appreciation in value.

Of the 42,850 packages of CTC on sale, the prices of larger Dooars brokens were lower by Rs 2, while the smaller brokens and fannings were at last week's level. There was limited enquiry from CIS nations and exporters from the United Kingdom.Good Assam CTC brokens sold at Rs 84-92 per kg and fannings at Rs 80-96 per kg, while medium Assam

 

CTC brokens sold at Rs 72-70 per kg and fannings at Rs 70-76 per kg.

Good Dooars brokens sold between Rs 73-80 per kg and fannings at Rs 71-76 per kg, while Cachar brokens sold at Rs 64-68 per kg. South Indian brokens went for Rs 61-62 per kg.

Whole leaf good Assam orthodox sold at Rs 95-120 per kg, brokens at Rs 80-92 per kg and fannings at Rs 68-73 per kg.

Of the dust variety, the Good Assam sold at Rs 86-92 per kg, Medium Assam at Rs 72-80 per kg and good Dooars at Rs 65-70 per kg.

Guwahati sale: CTC saw less demand and all sorts were easier by Rs 2 to Rs 3. Dust also saw feeble demand at rates which were easier by Rs 3 to Rs 4 with fair withdrawals.

Siliguri sale: A sluggish demand was witnessed and well-made popular sorts were lower by Rs 4.

The dust varieties, however, saw good demand with the clean grainy liquoring types remaining at around last levels.

Kochi sale: CTC saw less demand with rates easing by Rs 4 to Rs 7. Orthodox Nilgiri whole leaf was at last week's levels, while Medium Orthodox was lower by Rs 4 to Rs 6. CTC dust saw good demand despite the market opening lower by Re 1 to Rs 3. But with the progress of the sale, medium and plain varieties ruled firm-to-dear.
