Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has called a meeting of home minister Indrajit Gupta and Union defence minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to break the ice between him and Gupta, and between him, Gupta and Yadav, over Uttar Pradesh Governor Romesh Bhandari.
The meeting comes after a major loss of face for the United Front government, which was reprimanded on Thursday by Speaker PA Sagma for speaking in different voices on law and order in UP.
The Lok Sabha is slated to debate, and later vote, on a BJP-sponsored motion demanding the recall of the Governor at a time when the ruling United Front stands sharply divided over Bhandaris conduct.
Some Left leaders said that they would work for the defeat of the BJP-sponsored motion, even though they would point out the questionable
