Groundnut Oil Dips, Sugar Steady, Bullion Declines

Groundnut oil declined by Rs.2 to Rs.364 per 10 kg. on subdued demand coupled with improved arrivals. Arrivals were put at around 90/95 tonnes a day. Other industrial oils ruled easy to subdued at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. Imported palmolein also ruled easy on dull demand. In futures section, Castorseeds June'97 contract opened higher but eased towards closing. September contract remained untraded yesterday.

In other oils, copra oil white and mowra oil improved by Rs.5 each to Rs.575 and Rs. 285 per 10 kg.respectively on better industrial offtake and limited arrivals. Neem oil and karanji oil looked up by Rs.5 each to Rs.200 and Rs.180 per 10 kg.respectively on firm industrial demand coupled with restricted inflows. Imported palmolein eased by Rs.4 to Rs 283 per 10 kg.on subdued demand.

 

In futures, castorseeds June'97 contract opened Rs.4.50 higher at Rs.1112 and firmed up to Rs.1114.50 a quintal. It declined and closed at Rs.1109.50 a quintal.

In oilseeds, castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities improved by Rs.5 each to Rs.1099 and Rs.1093 a quintal respectively on improved demand and reduced inflows.

Sugar: A subdued to steady trend was noticed at the wholesale sugar market at Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday. Sugar of both the grades showed a subdued trend. Sugar S-30 grade eased to Rs.1410/1425 as against the previous levels of Rs.1405/1435 a quintal on reduced demand and better arrivals. Sugar M-30 grade declined to Rs 1465/1495 from the previous level of 1440/1508 a quintal on reduced offtake. Sugar for the check post deliveries were quoted easy at Rs.1390/1410 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs.1430/1455 for the M-30 grade.

Non-ferrous metals : A firm to upward trend was noticed in the local non-ferrous market yesterday. In virgin section, nickel cathodes improved further by Rs.2 to Rs.368 a kg. while copper wirebars and zinc slabs firmed up by 50 paise each to Rs.135.50 and Rs.79 a kg. respectively. Aluminium ingots improved by 25 paise to Rs.75.25 a kg. on improved demand and subdued arrivals. All the other metals like lead ingots and tin slabs ruled overall steady, and were nominally quoted at Rs. 41.50 and Rs.311 a kg.respectively on narrow movements.

In scraps section, a firm to better conditions were witnessed in the market. Copperbars, copper utensils, brass utensils and brass sheetcuttings firmed up by 50 paise each to Rs.122, Rs.110, Rs.93.25 and Rs.97.25 a kg.respectively

Bullion : Precious metals suffered a setback at higher level on profit bookings, weak trend in the overseas market and improved arrivals in the local bullion market yesterday.

In white metals, silver.999 and .916 declined by Rs 15 and Rs.20 to Rs.7080 and Rs. 6975 a kg. respectively on reduced industrial demand. The weak overseas advices pushed down the white metals prices . Delhi advices also indicated subdued trend.

In yellow metals, standard gold and 22 carat gold eased by Rs.35 and Rs. 15 to Rs.4835 and Rs.4470 per 10 grammes respectively on easy demand with better arrivals. Gold biscuits prices eased Rs.100 to Rs.56,600 per 10 tolas on weak demand.
