Groundnut Oil Moves Up, Sugar Insipid, Gold Eases

Groundnut oil maintained its upward march on limited arrivals and better offtake. Other industrial oils ruled easy-to-steady here yesterday. Imported palmolein ruled weak.

In the futures section, castorseeds June contract remained untraded while the September contract opened lower and eased further towards close.

Groundnut oil advanced further by Rs 5 at Rs 475 per 10 kg. Arrivals were put at around 90/95 tonnes.

In other oils, linseed oil and sesame oil declined by Rs 5 each to Rs 430 per 10 kg. Kardi oil and mowra oil gained Rs 10 and Rs 20 to Rs 600 and Rs 360 per 10 kg. Copra oil white lost Rs 15 to Rs 475 per 10 kg.

 

Karanji oil and rapeseed oil refined looked up by Rs 2 each to Rs 192 and Rs 420 per 10 kg. Imported palmolein eased further by Re 1 at Rs 372 per 10 kg. The majority of other oils ruled overall steady.

In futures, castorseeds September contract opened Rs 2.50 lower at Rs 1,431.50 a quintal and improved to Rs 1433. It declined to Rs 1,429.50 before closing at Rs 1,431.

Sugar: An easy-to-subdued trend was witnessed in sugar. Both grades ruled subdued. Sugar S-30 eased to Rs 1,450/1,465 a quintal against the previous Rs 1,450/1,468.

Sugar M-30 softened to Rs 1,470/1,505 a quintal the previous Rs 1,470/1,510.

Sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted lower at Rs 1,435/1,445 a quintal for S-30 and Rs 1,450/1,460 for the M-30.

Non-ferrous metals: An upward-to-firm trend was noticed on the local non-ferrous metals market.

In the virgin section, tin slabs and nickel cathodes improved by Rs 3 and Rs 2 to Rs 375 and Rs 298 a kg respectively.

Copper wirebar looked up by 50 paise at Rs 132.50 a kg. All other metals ruled overall. Aluminium ingots were quoted at Rs 83 a kg, zinc slabs Rs 79.25 and lead ingots at Rs 43.50 a kg respectively.

In scraps, copper heavy and aluminium utensils firmed up by 50 paise each to Rs 115.75 and Rs 64.50 a kg.

Copper utensils, brass utensils and brass sheetcuttings looked up by 25 paise each to Rs 103.50, Rs 89.25 and Rs 93.25 a kg respectively.

Bullion: An easy-to-weak trend was witnessed on the local bullion market. Both precious metals ruled dull.

In white metals, silver .999 and .916 eased by Rs 40 and Rs 45 to Rs 7,895 and Rs 7,770 a kg respectively.

Delhi advices too indicated a moderate trend.

In yellow metals, both standard gold and .22-carat eased further by Rs 5 each to Rs 4,265 and Rs 3,945 per 10 grammes respectively.

Gold biscuit prices too eased by Rs 100 at Rs 50,100 per piece.
