HCL Hewlett-Packard Ltd (HCL HP) yesterday announced an alliance with Intel India, a subsidiary of US-based Intel Corporation, to develop and market business desktop personal computers for the Indian market.

Both Intel and HCL HP are committed to bringing the latest technology to the Indian marketplace, a statement by HCL HP quoted Intel president Craig Barrett as saying.

Todays announcement ensures the most advanced server technology is available from Intel and HCL HP, making Pentium Pro-based systems widely available in India as standard, affordable products, Barrett said. The statement quoted HCL HP president Ajai Chowdhry as saying: Our alliance with Intel further reinforces our very long and fruitful relationship.

It said that Infiniti Global servers are equipped with all server management features, and will be bundled with a three-year warranty.

It gave no details on the retail price of the servers or the quantity expected to be sold.
