Hcl Infosys To Enter E-Services Market

HCL Infosystems Ltd on Thursday announced the entry of HCL Infinet as a B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to customer) Internet Services Provider in the e-services market.

An investment limit of Rs 125 crore has been approved at the HCL Infosystem's EGM which the company plans to raise through a preferential issue.

Slated to begin services by the middle of the year, HCL Infinet offerings will include access, VPN (virtual private network), ASP (applications service provider), hosting, networking and e-commerce. "The services will be launched in 40 cities within a few weeks," president of HCL Infinet, Saurav Adhikari said.

 

To cover 143 locations, HCL Infinet will tap its single-brand HCL PC base. "The company has a base of 15,000 t0 20,000 strong corporate base," Sharad Talwar, head B2B services said.

The start-up company will now be able to leverage its parent company's Internet infrastructure development resources and customer relationships with the who's who of Indian business.

Chairman and CEO HCL Insys, Ajai Chowdhry, said 'HCL's entrepreneurship is legendary. With HCL Infinet, we are again placed in the start-up mode and are excited about this."

HCL Insys has been gearing up for its entry into internet services arena over the past 2-3 years. during this period, it has added both Internet-focused solutions and skill sets. the company conceptualise its Internet thrust under the net strategy.Within this, HCL Insys has applied its domain knowledge and business understanding across a cross-section of industry segment .For this it has acquired skills in e-commerce development tools such as Java and Microsoft E.com on SAP and post-implementation support.
