Hindustan Zinc In Rs 400cr Power Venture

Hindustan Zinc has also entered into a joint venture with BRGM, France, to work on gold deposits in Vietnam. HZL chairman KVK Seshavatram said the proposal will be cleared shortly by the Vietnamese government.

In addition, the government has also cleared the joint collaborative work with BHP Minerals, Australia, to explore base and precious metals in Rajasthan.

The chairman said the company will be generating enough internal resources, before tapping the capital market.

Seshavatram said during 1995-96 the sales turnover of the company touched Rs 823.35 crore while net profit before tax was Rs 65.71 crore. The board of directors have recommended a dividend of Rs 6.34 crore, after a gap of two years, which is about 15 per cent of the retained profit after tax.

 

The board has also agreed to expand the company's existing zinc smelter capacity by 25 per cent..
