With a view to providing better information to the shareholders, it should become mandatory for the companies to provide groups accounts in addition to the individual company accounts, says the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
The responsibility for preparation of the accounts rests with the management and therefore the generally accepted accounting principles should be specified as a part of the schedule which puts the responsibility for preparation of accounts on the management, says the institute.
