The wholesale debt market segment of the National Stock Exchange witnessed transactions worth Rs 546.80 crore through 85 deals yesterday. The volume continued to be low due to uncertainties along the country's border.

The 11.90 per cent 2007 government security was once again the most traded stock, clocking Rs 100-crore deals at a weighted yield of 11.67 per cent.

Its price remained in a 4 paise range between Rs 101.04 and Rs 101.08. The 11.95 per cent government security maturing in 2004 traded for Rs 30 crore at a weighted yield of 11.30 per cent. Price movements were negligible in this security.

 

The medium-term segment again was the most active as the 12.5 per cent 2004 government loan traded for Rs 35 crore at a weighted yield of 11.26 per cent.

Dealers are of the view that yields for securities of this maturity is low at present and can be expected to rise once trading picks up.

The 13.40 per cent government stock maturing in 1999 was traded for Rs 30 crore at a weighted yield of 10.12 per cent.

The zero-coupon bond maturing in 2000 was traded for Rs 30 crore at a weighted yield of 10.26 per cent.
