So the war is over and it was won, albeit at a large cost in human lives. It was a diplomatic triumph and despite the intelligence failure, the bravery and tenacity of the jawans, turned around what could have been a setback into a victory. No doubt much soul-searching will be done about what could have been done better. As in many other things the lower orders are fine and brave; it is as you climb up to the top and go from the military to the civil and political side that the stench begins to rise.
