India, Japan To Discuss Better It Ties

India and Japan have agreed to initiate talks on information technology in order to strengthen cooperation in the field of IT between the two nations.

According to an official statement, Japanese minister of international trade and industry, Fukaya met minister for information technology Pramod Mahajan. Both the ministers have affirmed to strengthen trade investments and industrial relations.

The statement said both sides would discuss issues relevant to cooperations in information technology including electronic commerce, electronic governance and promotion and facilitation of business to business co-operation in the IT sector.

The ministers have also agreed to formulate a `Japan-India IT business exchange programme' to promote and support infotech business, the statement said adding that the specific details and modalities of the programme would be worked out during the forthcoming dialogue.

 

"Japan has welcomed India's second generation economic reforms and share the view that economic reforms are essential for development. India emphasised the opportunities this afforded for greater investments and technology flows from Japan," the statement pointed out.
