Abbot labs is likely to be hit hard by the latest price cuts issued by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority. Prices of the bulk drug erythromycin stearate have been slashed by 25 per cent, and of erythromycin ethyl-succiante by 23 per cent. Abbot Labs is the only producer of these bulk drugs.
Prices of iboprufen have also been cut by 17 per cent from Rs 442 to Rs 365. A number of companies are likely to be hit by this price cut.
NPPA has reduced the price of erythromycin stearate from Rs 3,488 to Rs 2,604, while the price of erythromycin ethyl succinate was reduced from Rs 5,714 to Rs 4,392.
