Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government completed one year of rule since its formation on May 27. A close look at the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) suggests that except in Manipur, funds utilisation in states have remained less than 50 per cent.

Under this scheme, each MP gets Rs 5 crore every year for development of his or her constituency. In Uttar Pradesh, which has the largest number of parliamentarians, including Modi, expenditure is around 10 per cent. Here is how the money was spent in various states.
