NIIT has recorded a 50 per cent increase in its turnover to Rs 140.25 crore, in the first six months ending March 31 1997. Last year, the turnover was Rs 93.58 crore. Net profit has also grown 52 per cent to Rs 10.8 crore.
Director Rajendra Pawar said he expected NIIT to achieve gross sales turnover of around Rs 400 crore by the end of the current six months ending September 1997.
Pawar said: This performance reflects NIITs aggressive plan to become a global player in the field of educational multimedia software, IT training, software development and systems integration.

Announcing the results yesterday, Pawar said the company expected to do better in the latter part of the year as the nature of their business was seasonal.
NIITs corporate business in this period included training of 20,000 telecom personnel and 200 legislators of Andhra Pradesh. It has also emerged as software developers for the government sector in the Asean region.
NIITs software factory at Calcutta is engaged in creating Year 2000 software solutions. It has launched an advanced redevelopment curriculum for software professionals for tackling the Year 2000 software opportunity.
