Petroleum Conference To Focus On Future Needs

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will inaugurate the third international petroleum conference, Petrotech-99, being organised here from January 9 to 12.

Petroleum and natural gas minister V K Ramamurthy will inaugurate an exhibition on the oil industry being organised as part of the conference.

With the theme "Oil industry outlook in the 21st century: Challenges and opportunities," the conference is being organised by Indian Oil Corporation under the aegis of the ministry of petroleum and natural gas.

According to the organisers, Petrotech-99 will cover the whole gamut of the hydrocarbon industry: oil exploration and production, transportation, refining technology, fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, compressed natural gas, and coal bed methane, training and human resource development.

 

It will also focus on related areas like research and development, energy conservation, petroleum market economics and management, quality, safety and environment protection.

More than 750 delegates have registered so far for participation in the conference. The organisers hope that this number would cross 1500 by next month.
