A rare autumnal tea grown in the tea estates of Darjeeling got a record price of Rs 1,521 per kg _ the highest ever paid for an autumnal variety of tea _ at the Darjeeling auctions, a tea purchasing company said on Tuesday.
This is a record price for any autumnal tea ever sold, the buyers, Golden Tips Tea Company, which owns Nathmulls brand, said in press release.
The auction was conducted by J Thomas and Company, worlds largest tea auctioneers, on Monday and the tea was harvested from Okayti Tea Estate, Darjeeling.
