RCF gained 21.56 per cent last week as the company declared its annual results. As per the provisional results for March 1998, its net profit registering a 128 per cent growth at Rs 175 crore. Its sales grew 27 per cent to Rs 1700 crore against Rs 1337.2 crore in previous year.

Of its total turnover, fertilisers contributed Rs 1500 crore and the balance came from the industrial products division. The major factor towards increased revenue was due to the additional two lakh tonne urea production from its Trombay unit.

The company is gearing up with an ambitious plan to record a turnover of Rs 2000 crore turnover by the year 2000. Its Oman fertiliser project is expected to be operation by 2001. The ammonia capacity at Thal unit is being upgraded from 900 tonne to 1150 tonne per day and will be hiked further to 1350 tonne. It also plans to revamp the urea plant at Thal to substantially increase capacity utilisation and further reduce energy consumption. After the revamp it is expected to produce more than 25 lakh tonne of urea.
