The associations of employees and officers of the Reserve Bank of India will call on Governor Bimal Jalan on June 12 at Mumbai for the first time after Jalan assumed office as the chief of the central bank.
The representatives of employees and officers will reiterate their stand regarding powers and authority of the RBI on supervision and regulation of the financial system. They are strongly opposed to the Narasimaham Committee report which suggested the creation of a separate agency for supervision. Delinking of supervision and regulation from the ambit of RBI will not be tolerated, said Samir Ghosh, general secretary, All India Reserve Bank Employees Association (AIRBEA). AIRBEA along with All India Reserve Bank Workmen's Federation, All India Reserve Bank Officers' Association and RBI Officers' Association are expected to adopt a joint memorandum at a meeting on June 11.
