The Reliance scrip witnessed hectic activity in the depository segment with 21,870 shares changing hands yesterday at an average price of Rs 371.17 per share. The total worth of shares traded was Rs 81.17 lakh. This is the highest figure in terms of trading volumes and turnover for an individual scrip on any day till now in the paperless segment so far.The ICICI scrip witnessed a trading volume of 323 shares worth Rs 32,173 in the depository segment.
Even as the overall trading sentiment at the bourses looked up on renewed buying support, no-delivery scrips hogged the limelight yesterday with many of them touching new 52-week highs at the major bourses during intra-day trading.
BHEL, which entered no-delivery on the BSE yesterday, touched a new 52-week high of Rs 475 before closing at Rs 462.50 (+Rs 15). BPL touched Rs 106 (close Rs 104.75), Reliance Capital hit the upper end of the circuit filter at Rs 92.75 while the GSFC scrip touched Rs 139.50 (close Rs 139).
Among pharma stocks, the Sun Pharma scrip was the major gainer of the day with the scrip hitting the upper end of the circuit filter at the bourses. On the BSE, the scrip closed at Rs 317, a new 52-week high, with a gain of Rs 28.75 over the previous close of Rs 288.25.
On the NSE, the scrip hit the upper end of the circuit filter at Rs 318.10 which was also a new 52-week high. Marketmen said that a leading FII has been making purchases at the counter since last week. The scrip has moved up by Rs 67 in the past six trading sessions on the BSE. On the NSE, the scrip has moved up by Rs 68.10 during the same period.
Among other pharma scrips, Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Lupin Laboratories also posted significant gains. The Dr Reddy's Labs scrip gained Rs 12.75 on the BSE to close at Rs 318.75 while the Lupin scrip gained Rs 9 over the previous closing level to close at Rs 121.
Among the index scrips, Bombay Dyeing, Indian Hotels and ITC figured among the losers mainly on lack of buying support. The ITC scrip lost Rs 4.25 to close at Rs 578, Indian Hotels lost Rs 1.75 to close at Rs 602 while the Bombay Dyeing scrip fell by Rs 4.75 to close at Rs 113.
The Bombay Stock Exchange has imposed special margins on six software scrips with effect from yesterday. The scrips which have attracted the margin are CMC Ltd: Rs 25, Leading Edge: Rs 60, Sierra Optima: Rs 15, Softrak Venture: Rs 5, R S Software: Rs 7 and PSI Data Systems :Rs 5.
