The rubber board is undertaking a major initiative to provide technical assistance to upgrade the quality of processed rubber in the country, rubber board chairman K J Mathew said.
There is scope for further upgradation in rubber processing The board plans to improve the quality of processing in all forms through technical assistance, Mathew said. The efforts include producing more technically-specified rubber (TSR) rather than sheet or other forms, he said.
The steps were being taken as leading natural rubber producing countries have started producing more TSR, which is yet to take off in India, he said.
Moreover, in India, a large quantity is being produced as ungraded ones rather than lots or sheets, he added.
