Shares mainly of blue chip companies continued to show a recovery trend on the stock market yesterday, today as domestic financial institutions and speculators made increased purchases followed by fresh round of short covering and ended with moderate gains.
According to marketmen, bear operators who had been pressing heavy short selling, were seen covering their positions in view of the end of settlement, which also pushed up share prices higher.
The Delhi Stock Exchange Sensitive Index gained 2.09 points to close the session at 694.48 points.
Shares of multi national companies like, Hindustan Lever, ITC Ltd and Nestle India were in heavy demand among financial institutions and mutual funds coupled with some short covering and ended with fresh gains.
Other shares like BSES Ltd., ACC, DCM Shriram Consolidated also found some buying support.
