The trading sentiment on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) remained firm and the NSE-50 index dipped marginally to close at 1,199.95, a loss of 0.75 points over the previous close of 1,200.70.
The Midcap index closed at 1,309.05 points against the previous close of 1313.10, a loss of 4.05 points. The trading turnover touched Rs 1,803.32 crore with nearly 7.08 crore shares changing hands. According to market sources, the bullish trend is likely to continue for a couple more trading sessions. Though a technical correction is round the corner, the market will not witness a heavy fall, said an NSE dealer.
The FIIs made purchases at select counters and so did the domestic institutions. Market sources said the punters joined the bandwagon which further improved the trading sentiment. The Nifty opened at 1,204.35, touched a high of 1213.40 went to a low of 1,195.20 before closing at 199.95 points.

The RIL counter which appreciated on Thursdays trading dipped marginally . The RIL scrip closed at Rs 355.00 against the previous close of Rs 360.15 and the total trading turnover touched Rs 421.65 crore. Among the major gainers were Indo Gulf at Rs 39.60 (Rs 37), Essar Steel at Rs 23.90 (Rs 22.40), Hindalco at Rs 1050.50 (Rs 1,009.95), MRPL at Rs 21.30 (Rs 20.70) and Ponds at Rs 1,857.5 (Rs 1,812.05).
Among the top five losers were, Rel Capital at Rs 75.50 (Rs 79.25), Andhra Valley at Rs 93.85 (Rs 97.15), Rel Petroleum Rs 20.95 (Rs 21.60), Tata Power at Rs 143.10 (Rs 147.25) and Nestle India at Rs 288.90 (Rs 296.35).
Meanwhile, share prices on the Over the Counter (OTC) Exchange of India increased marginally on renewed buying support from financial institutions and general investors.
The composite index opened at 112.52 points and closed at 113.13 points, showing an increase of 0.61 points over its previous close of 112.52 points. The total turnover reported during the day was Rs 121.69 lakh involving 14,1400 shares and debentures. Major contribution was from the listed debenture contributing Rs 1,17,62,695 lakh. Among the other segments listed equity contributed Rs 3,99,810 lakh. Permitted debentures contributed Rs 6,800.
