Statspeak: How do job seekers perceive opportunities, obstacles in India?

77 per cent Indians consider career advancement as their main opportunity

This is an oft-repeated argument that job-seekers in India do not possess employable skills but little has been done to understand what are the aspirations of those who want to enter the workforce or change jobs; what are their goals and what aids or prevents them from meeting those. In the inaugural edition of its Opportunity Index in Asia Pacific region, LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, has attempted that. In all, the network surveyed 11,000 respondents from the region where it has more than 153 million members. A third of those, over 53 million members, are in India.
