T-Bill Segment Sees Rs 9.50cr Trades

The wholesale debt market at the National Stock Exchange witnessed yet another dull trading day with only 17 trades and a volume of Rs 81.85 crore recorded.

"Although there is liquidity in the system there was no trading interest," said a trader. "The sentiments are so depressed that it appears that the market is unlikely to revive for the next few days," another trader added.

In dated government securities, only eight trades were reported accounting to a volume of Rs 36.35 crore. The treasury bill segment saw two trades for Rs 9.50 crore while the commercial paper segment saw three trades for Rs 15 crore and the certificates of deposit saw one trade for Rs 1 crore.

 

"With only few deals being reported, the prices of securities have remained steady for the entire week," said a trader.

The 12.60 per cent bonds of ICICI maturing in 1999 saw trade worth Rs 10 crore and at a yield of 12.66 per cent. The 11.64 per cent government loan maturing in 2000 saw two trades for Rs 15 crore and at a weighted average yield of 11.27 per cent. The zero per cent government loan maturing in 2000 (type B) also saw two trades for Rs 15 crore and at a weighted average yield of 11.35 per cent.
