Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal has urged the Centre to introduce necessary amendments in the crop insurance scheme to ensure maximum benefits to farmers. Lal was speaking to J N L Srivastava, chairman of a high-level committee appointed by the Centre to look into the problem of rural indebtedness.
The Chief Minister said that under the crop insurance scheme, the Centre should consider an individual farmer as a unit. The scheme was introduced in the state earlier, but has been discontinued now.
