The ministry of steel and mines is working on a legislation to allow import of secondary lead and ensure organised collection of lead battery scrap.
The legislation is likely to allow recycling of secondary lead, which will reduce reliance on imported primary lead.
Among the beneficiaries will be the railways, the transport sector and households as users of invertors and uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems.
