Traded Volume Dips To Rs 190.16 Crore

The wholesale debt market at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) witnessed yet another dull trading day.

"The prices of securities, too, did not move beyond one-two paise," said traders. Brokers said that there are conflicting signals on interest rate movement and thus they are not taking positions.

The following days are also expected to be dull, they added.

The day saw 36 trades worth Rs 190.16 crore, of which the treasury bills segment saw three trades for a volume of Rs 20.76 crore.

The 11.55 per cent government loan maturing in 2001 witnessed active trading. The paper saw eight trades for a volume of Rs 60 crore and at a weighted average yield of 11.49 per cent. The paper was traded for a low of Rs 100.03 and a high of Rs 100.05. The zero per cent government loan maturing in 2000 (type-B) saw four trades for Rs 20 crore.

The floating rate bond of IDBI maturing on 2002 was traded for Rs 15 crore at a yield of 13.89 per cent. The 14-day treasury bill maturing on September 12 was traded for Rs 10 crore at a yield of 7.99 per cent.
