Traded Volumes Total Rs 573.62 Crore

NSE REPORT

The wholesale debt market segment of the National Stock Exchange witnessed trades worth Rs 573.62 crore yesterday with the 13.40 and 13.70 per cent 1999 loan being most actively traded paper at 12.29 and 12.04 per cent, respectively.

The 13.50 per cent 1998 government stock was traded for Rs 40 crore at an indicative yield of 11.15 per cent while the 364-day treasury bill maturing on July 18, 1997, was traded for Rs 60 crore at an indicative yield of 8.08 per cent.

This was lower when compared with the previous days level of 8.24 per cent.

Said a dealer with a private bank: There was a lot of activity in the market today and everybody is still bullish. Due to substantial liquidity in the system, the call money rates are expected to rule at low levels for some time and are not expected to go above 3.5 per cent in the coming week, said the treasury head of a foreign bank.

 

Certificates of deposit of Societe Generale maturing in June 1997 were traded for Rs 22.11 lakh on the exchange.

Corporate debentures were also traded for Rs 22.11 lakh.

The 16 per cent MRPL 2002 witnessed trades for approximately s 10.32 lakh.
