Trades Spiral Lower, Tot Up To Rs 332 Cr

Traded volume in the wholesale debt market (WDM) segment of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was lower at Rs 331.97 crore compared with the levels seen towards the end of last week.

However, there was an increase in the volume of debentures traded to Rs 25.13 crore.

The latest government loan issued, the 11.68 per cent 2002, saw a maximum of seven trades _ a high of Rs 100.31 and a low of Rs 100.26, at a weighted yield of 11.56 per cent. The 11.55 per cent 2001 saw two trades at Rs 100.33 or a weighted yield of 11.37 per cent.

 

There were seven trades in the 12 per cent 1999 gilt, which was traded at a high of Rs 101.67 and a low of Rs 101.64, the weighted average yield was 9.23 per cent. Among treasury bills, the 364 day bill maturing on November 20 was traded for Rs 15 crore at a yield of 7.44 per cent, while that maturing on October 9 was traded at 7.20 per cent.

The major chunk in the debentures segment took place in the corporate floating note bond issued by Reliance Industries, maturing in 1999.

These were traded at an indicative yield of 9.72 per cent for Rs 25 crore.
