Trading in the debt segment of the National Stock Exchange remained active with volumes touching Rs 438.29 crore yesterday.
There was a lot of interest expressed in short and medium-term securities. The prices of securities continued to go up by about 15 to 20 paise, while yields continued to slip.

The 13.5 per cent paper maturing in 1997 saw deals worth Rs 85 crore. Out of these, transactions worth Rs 25 crore were concluded at 11.53 per cent and deals worth Rs 60 crore were done at 10.41 per cent.
The 13.4 per cent 1999 paper saw trades worth Rs 45 crore at 12.9 per cent yields.
The zero coupon 2000B bond and the zero coupon 2000C bond were also transacted actively for volumes of Rs 15 crore each, both at yields of 13.4 per cent. The zero coupon 1999 paper saw trading volumes of Rs 20 crore at a yield of 12.59 per cent.
The 364-day treasury bills maturing on October 10, 1997 witnessed trades worth Rs 70 crore at a yield of 9.4 per cent, while the bills maturing on December 12, 1997 saw total trades of Rs 15 crore at yields of 9.6 per cent.
The bills maturing on January 2, 1998, witnessed deals worth Rs 5 crore to be settled after two days at 9.6 per cent, and deals worth Rs 15 crore at 9.7 per cent to be settled the same day.
