NSE REPORT
The wholesale debt market at the National Stock Exchange(NSE) witnessed volumes of Rs 276.82 crore yesterday. Prices of all major securities saw a decline. Initially there were only sellers in the market, but sporadic buying was reported during the later part of the day.
The securities which witnessed high-volume trading yesterday included the 13.70 per cent government loan maturing 1997, which was transacted for Rs 35 crore at 12.26 per cent.

The 2004 government loan was dealt for Rs 10 crore at a high yield of 13 per cent .The 364-day treasury bill maturing in April 1998 changed hands for Rs 9 crore at 9.65 per cent. These movements have put the auctions, which are due this week, in a spot, said a dealer.
The 13 per cent taxable bonds 1997 of Hindustan Zinc and NHPC was traded for Rs 25 crore and Rs 23 crore, respectively, at 11.45 per cent and 10.98 per cent yields, respectively. Corporate debentures were traded for Rs 3.24 crore of which the 18 per cent Spic paper maturing 1998 was dealt for Rs 3.08 crore at a yield of 16.46 per cent.
The call money rates opened at 9.75 per cent ruled around 10.50 per cent for most of the day, closing finally between 8.75 per cent and 9.75 per cent.
