Cyclicals staged a firm comeback
on the Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) yesterday. Bullish sentiments prevailed on most other key infotechs, except for Satyam Computer.
The CSE-40 index closed at 2,301.57 points, declining by 6.27 points against the previous closing of 2,307.84 points. The index fluctuated between 2,329.48 points and 2,299.81 points in intra-day trading.

Satyam Computers opened at Rs 2,220 but declined to Rs 2,125 in mid-day trading to close dull at Rs 2,141.50. Pentafour Software opened at Rs 969, and fluctuated between Rs 1,037.10 and Rs 969. The counter closed at Rs 1,037.10. Associated Cement Co (ACC) opened at Rs 213.50, ranged between Rs 226.20 and Rs 210.10, and closed at Rs 226.20. Tata Tea opened at Rs 490, fluctuated between Rs 525 and Rs 487, and closed firm at Rs 519.60. Tata Steel opened at Rs 144.80, moved between Rs 150.50 and Rs 144.20, and closed at Rs 147.90.
"Infotech counters have continued to sustain interest, with the exception of Satyam. Cyclicals have had a good day after a quite a long period of depression. Reliance Industries, Tisco and ACC were some of the bigger gainers yesterday", said a CSE dealer.
