Wipro Infotech Launches E-Commerce Services Division

The e-commerce services solutions offered by Wipro is being targetted for start-up portals in B2C (business to consumer) and B2B (business to business) segments. It has targeted revenues of Rs 20 crore from this division in the first year of the group's IT revenues projection of Rs 200 crore.

The company has also launched a complete, comprehensive, end-to-end solution called Portal-in-a-box. It includes all the product and service components that a firm requires for establishing presence on the web.

Wipro has partnered with HDFC bank and Elbee to bring in payment and logistics services into the solution.

Briefing mediapersons, Rajat Mathur, general manager (e-commerce solutions & services) of Wipro Infotech said, "The company will focus in the areas of content management, portal development and market places in the B2C space and in the B2B space it will focus on sell side applications such as e-ordering, back end integration and security."

 

With regard to the late entry in the market, T K Kurien, chief executive, Wipro Infotech Solutions and Services said that we have made a delayed entry but not a late entry into the market.

"We will leverage on the tremendous experience gained in implementing e-commerce projects overseas through Wipro technologies, as Wipro has provided e-commerce services in financial, travel, energy, manufacturing and telecom segments overseas and we want to provide the same service in India" Kurien added.

The e-commerce division has already secured orders of Rs 7 crore for consultancy as well as implementation and management of services.

Wipro has already started working on a project with a telecom operator for providing wireless data applications for its mobile users and with a large media firm for rebuilding their entire B2C portal. However, Kurien refused to give details on the client list.
