Wolfensohn To Meet Sinha Today

World Bank president James D Wolfensohn will be told tomorrow by the finance ministry that the poverty ratio in the country has gone down to 27 per cent when he hears a presentation on the poverty situation in the country prepared by the finance ministry and the Planning Commission.

But to skirt all controversies the presentation has been prepared by the fund bank division of the Department of Economic Affairs solely. When contacted, a senior official of the Planning Commission said they have no idea what will be the content of the presentation even though they will be present on the occasion.

 

The World Bank president is meeting finance minister Yashwant Sinha tomorrow who will chair the meeting on the country
